What is digital accessibility?
Digital accessibility is a set of rules and best practices that encompass functional, graphical, technical, and editorial aspects. Adhering to these rules and best practices ensures that digital resources (websites, mobile applications, PDF documents, etc.) are accessible to individuals with disabilities. An accessible website allows, for example:
- To customize the display via the operating system and/or browser (zooming in or out of text, changing fonts, modifying colors, stopping animations, etc.).
- To navigate using assistive technologies such as screen readers or braille displays.
- To navigate without using a mouse, solely with the keyboard, touch contacts, or via a touchscreen.
- To watch videos and listen to audio content with the help of subtitles and/or transcripts.
- And so on.
