Camden Town Brewery the home of Hells

Camden Town Brewery is one of London’s most recognisable modern beer brands, known for its vibrant personality, fresh lagers, and a commitment to brewing beer that’s never boring. From bold, clean flavours to eye-catching design and a lively community presence, Camden has carved out a unique space in the UK beer scene. It all began with one flagship lager: Camden Hells.

Camden Hells began with founder Jasper Cuppaidge, who unexpectedly settled in London after missing a flight home to Australia. Working in pubs eventually led him to buy The Horseshoe in Hampstead, where he brewed his first beer in the cellar using one of his grandfather’s old recipes. As demand grew, Jasper set his sights on something bigger: brewing great lager in the heart of London.

With the name Camden Town Brewery secured and a row of railway arches under Kentish Town West Station rented, the brewery officially launched in 2010. That same autumn, they released Camden Hells, a crisp, clean lager inspired by both German Helles and Pilsner styles. Brewed with high-quality German malt and hops, Hells quickly became the flagship beer and the reason Camden scaled up production and expanded.

Camden Town Enfield Brewery

As popularity soared, Camden outgrew their original arches, later adding a larger facility in Enfield to keep up with the demand for their unpasteurised, fresh-tasting lagers. Despite their growth and global partnerships, the brewery has kept its community spirit alive through brewery tours, their bustling Beer Hall, and a continued commitment to craft, creativity, and quality.

Today, Camden Hells remains the heart of the brand supported by favourites like Camden Pale and Camden Eazy.
