• What's the difference between low alcohol and non alcoholic beer?

  According to Drinkaware, a beer must be less than 1.2% ABV to be "Low Alcohol”. So what are all these beers at 0.5% ABV classed as? Well they are actually de-alcoholised beer. The last category are the real deal! Alcohol free or non alcoholic beers come in at 0.05% ABV or lower. They may contain traces of alcohol but these are minimal.

• Does non alcoholic beer taste the same as beer with alcohol?

  Non alcoholic beers have a legacy of not tasting as good as the real thing and for good reason. We have all tried to be good by reaching for those replacement drinks and been disappointed. This problem dates back to Prohibition times when low alcoholic beers were created in America. With a nickname like “near beer”, it’s clear they weren’t very good!

• Does non alcoholic beer have alcohol in it?

  Although technically alcohol free doesn’t mean the beer is a zero alcohol beer they have no more than 0.05% ABV. Rest assured though, some great beers are out there at 0.0% ABV. There are also a large range of beers that have 0.5% ABV, which although not alcohol free, have a number of benefits to drinking their full alcohol versions or equivalents.

  Alcohol is known as a diuretic and with many of us waking up after have one too many the night before feeling rather less than ideal. The reason; because we are dehydrated. • What's the best non alcoholic beer?

  Well now, this is very subjective. Where to start! There really are some great non alcoholic beers around these days that there can be many from across all styles of beer. The Germans and Belgiums have been leading the way in beer making for a long time, be that alcoholic or low alcohol version. There are some great options with low alcohol wheat beers like Franziskaner Alkoholfrei. Then there is Leffe 0.0 that is doing an excellent job taking a strong Belgium classic into a full of flavour non alcoholic beer.

  Looking for something more hoppy and British then look no further than Thornbridge Zero-Five Pale Ale or Big Drop Pine Trail Pale Ale.
