Oktoberfest History
What makes a beer a Festbier?
Many countries hold their own versions of Oktoberfest making it the most well-known beer festival across the globe. The original and official Oktoberfest though is held in Munich, Bavaria and it's no surprise that there's a few rules governing what makes an official Oktoberfest beer. It must be produced within Munich itself, brewed to just under 6% abv and conform to the Reinheitsgebot law.

Why is Oktoberfest celebrated in September?
Long story short: Oktoberfest originally started in October 1810, but the celebration quickly grew in popularity and length. The weather in September is usually nicer and the days are longer, so it made more sense to push Oktoberfest back into September and end it on the first Sunday of October. All that really matters is there is an entire festival dedicated to drinking crisp, clean Oktoberfest lagers with friends throughout the world.
