"Michael Hayden said: “It started off as a plan to just have a shed with a little bar in it to have a few drinks now and again. But when I thought about it, I thought I might as well make it quite big, but I didn’t expect to be that big. Building the bar turned into a bit of a hobby by my son and me, collecting things to put on show.
"The man cave comes in really handy as I work for East Midlands Ambulance Service. If we have bad jobs we tend to go to the cave and have a bit of a debrief about things; a bit of counselling if you will, and of course a few nice real ale beers. As well as that we do have a quiz night every so often and there have been many many parties – birthdays, New Year’s Eve, Christmas, St. Patrick’s day, which is a favourite. Any excuse really – I seem to spend more time in there than in my own house.
"We have a popcorn machine, hot dog machine, coffee maker (that’s rarely used), it’s been up now about five years and still adding things to it. I don’t know what we did without it really, and my son who is studying to be a doctor at Leeds University uses the cave with his medical student friends."
