Who invented beer ?

Strictly speaking, there is no inventor, insofar as this drink is above all the fruit of chance. According to a tablet found at Uruk in ancient Mesopotamia (southern Iraq), the first beer is thought to have come from the decomposition of a loaf of cereal bread in water. Indeed, the Sumerians ate very hard bread, which they soaked before eating, during their meal.

Accidentally, without this Mesopotamian thinking about it, one of these barley loaves was left in the water for too long. As a result, natural yeasts and the effect of fermentation transformed it into beer! It was the first beverage to be consumed in this way, thanks to the greatest of coincidences.

In fact, the language of this eastern region refers to this drink as liquid bread, thus making a clear reference to its original invention. The Akkadian language uses the word sikaru.
