Monsieur Chouette – Het Uiltje American IPA

Het Uiltje Brewery

Founded in 2012 by Robert Uyleman, Het Uiltje — which literally translates from Dutch as “the owl” — is a dynamic craft brewery based in the Netherlands. The brewery experienced rapid growth from 2016 onwards, investing heavily in large fermenters, bottling and canning lines, and state-of-the-art brewing equipment to produce high-quality craft beer.

Today, Het Uiltje employs around 20 people across several countries including France, Italy, Colombia, Serbia, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Its beers are exported to more than 30 countries worldwide. The brewery’s main ambition is simple: to brew exceptional beers that rank among the best in the Netherlands. Every brew is crafted with passion, creativity, and the belief that beer is a truly magical experience.

American IPA Style

While the traditional British IPA has inspired countless variations — including NEIPA, DIPA, and West Coast IPA — one style continues to stand out globally: the American IPA. After crossing the Atlantic, this iconic craft beer style quickly gained popularity for its bold flavours and modern brewing techniques.

Brewed with distinctive American hops, American IPAs are appreciated for their vibrant bitterness and intensely fruity profile. Far from being simple refreshing beers, they offer remarkable depth and complexity, with resinous notes of pine, grapefruit, citrus, and floral aromas. Typically round and full-bodied, American IPAs deliver a rich texture and balanced finish that appeals to craft beer enthusiasts worldwide.

Monsieur Chouette

Monsieur Chouette is a unique American IPA brewed with genuine passion and expertise. The master brewer carefully selected premium ingredients to create a perfectly balanced and aromatic beer.

For hopping, Cascade, Chinook, and Citra provide structured bitterness, while Mosaic, Citra, and Amarillo are used in dry hopping to develop an intense aromatic profile. The result is a blonde IPA bursting with aromas of tangerine, papaya, passion fruit, pineapple, and exotic fruits, supported by a dry and pleasantly bitter finish. A true delight for lovers of hoppy craft beers.

Food Pairing

Monsieur Chouette pairs beautifully with fried and salty foods, grilled fish, pork, and beef. It also complements spicy cuisines such as Indian and Mexican dishes, enhancing both freshness and flavour.
