We're talking about manufacturing. However, the first beer was not invented, with a recipe, before it was made.
Its origin was more by chance. Sumerian tablets (in Mesopotamia, now Iraq) establish its origin at 6000 BC.
The Sumerians were the first to make beer.
The Sumerians were already using barley and a variety of wheat, spelt, to make their bread in 8000 BC.
The inhabitants of this eastern region used to make their bread before storing it. As a result, these were very dry and could not be eaten, without being softened in water. One day, a Sumerian forgot to remove his bread. As a result, the water turned into beer, under the effect of fermentation and natural yeasts.
The Akkadian language came up with a lovely name for this very first beer. At the time, it used the term sikaru, which can be translated as liquid bread.
