With winter's arrival and the drop in temperatures, there’s nothing better than indulging in warm, comforting dishes. Every year, Savoyard specialities featuring cheese, such as raclette and fondue, take center stage in convivial meals. Whether you prefer a classic cheese fondue with white wine or a non-alcoholic version, this dish remains a staple of winter dining.
While traditional fondue is made with white wine, more and more people are looking for non-alcoholic alternatives. Today, as beer lovers, we’re excited to share our alcohol-free beer fondue recipe!
Easy alcohol-free beer fondue recipe
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients for 4 people:
- 400 g Emmental
- 400 g Comté
- 25 cl alcohol-free lager, for example Corona Cero
- 1 clove of garlic
- Nutmeg
- Parsley
- Salt and pepper
- 1 baguette (or rye/poppy seed bread)
Instructions:
- Rub the inside of your fondue pot with the peeled garlic clove to enhance the cheese’s natural flavors.
- Grate the Emmental and Comté instead of cutting them into cubes—this helps them melt faster and blend smoothly.
- Place a handful of grated cheese into the fondue pot and add a bit of beer. Start cooking on low heat, gradually adding the remaining cheese and beer while stirring constantly.
- Use a gentle figure-eight stirring motion until you achieve a creamy, semi-thick texture.
- Cut the baguette into bite-sized cubes, and you’re ready to enjoy your alcohol-free beer fondue!
Best beer for non-alcoholic beer fondue
Beer adds depth and complexity to Savoyard fondue, thanks to its natural malt and hop flavors. While some assume that non-alcoholic beer lacks taste, it can be just as rich and flavorful as its traditional counterpart.
For the best alcohol-free beer fondue, we recommend using Jupiler 0.0. This Belgian blonde beer is a perfect non-alcoholic alternative to the classic Jupiler, maintaining its malty, herbal, and fruity notes that complement melted cheese beautifully.
So, whether you're looking for a family-friendly alternative or just want to try something new, alcohol-free beer fondue is a delicious twist on the classic recipe!
