Amager Bryghus is a Danish brewery renowned worldwide in the craft beer scene and highly respected by beer enthusiasts.
Amager Bryghus
This Danish microbrewery is based in a former Scientology church on the small island of Amager, covering an area of 96.29 km². Located close to Copenhagen and connected to the capital by several bridges, the island benefits from rich, fertile land and a strategic location.

Amager Bryghus was founded by two friends, Jacob Storm and Morten Valentin Lundsbak. Their journey began while they were still students working on a physics and chemistry project focused on beer fermentation. Although their initial knowledge was limited, their curiosity quickly turned into a passion. Batch after batch, they refined their brewing skills until they officially launched their brewery in 2007.

Since then, Amager Bryghus has been dedicated to producing bold, high-quality beers enjoyed around the globe. The brewery gained international recognition with its iconic imperial stout Hr. Frederiksen, ranked among RateBeer’s Top 50 beers worldwide. Just two years later, in 2009, Amager Bryghus entered RateBeer’s Top 100 breweries in the world.
A wide range of craft beers
Today, Amager Bryghus is considered a benchmark among beer geeks. The brewery is known for producing powerful, heavily hopped beers such as Gluttony Double IPA, boasting over 300 IBU and 9.4% ABV, as well as rich, dark beers like Pride and Nordic Skies in the imperial stout style.
With such diversity, it’s impossible not to find a beer to love. Amager Bryghus consistently delivers quality, creativity, and intensity, making it a truly reliable name in craft beer.
